Blogging and Money (For a Newbie, by a Newbie)
I have slowly been making my way around blog marketing and advertising options for the past few days. I’m still unranked by Alexa, and Google hates me just as bad. What does this mean? That until this blog is bigger, I am not qualified for very many opportunities. Right now I am talking about PayPerPost, but that’s not all that I am trying to sort through. I’m also looking at different advertising companies. So far I have tried:
- Google Adsense
- Adbrite
- WidgetBucks
- Shopping Ads
I’ve made the most money in the shortest amount of time through AdBrite, however that only amounts to about $2.30 right now. I haven’t made any money through WidgetBucks, or Shopping Ads, and my Google Adsense dashboard tells me I’ve made $87 but it’s taken me 3-4 years to do it. Therefore, the advertiser I am most pleased with is Adbrite.
In Paid Posting terms, I haven’t had much experience with other companies - but PayPerPost really seems like the best. There are other programs, such as Smorty, but due to restrictions on blog age, mine is still considered too young.
The bottom line is, with a little nudge in the right direction, making money through your blog is relatively easy but you rely a lot on luck. You hope that people like you, want to link to you, and eventually that advertisers think that you are worthy of their ads. You can make that happen, unfortunately, but you can do your best to put out quality content.
