Review: iPod Touch
Yesterday I recieved a bit of a late Christmas present from my little brother. He’s eight years younger than I am, and when we were growing up I made it a point to buy him a really cool tech gadget for his birthday and Christmas every year. This year, with trying to start a business I couldn’t afford to give him anything really impressive. Not that he needs it, somehow he’s managed to get himself all of the major gaming systems out there. Aren’t divorced families grand? Nevertheless, my little brother surprised me with the new 16GB iPod touch I have been lusting over since I heard about it.
My first impression was, holy crap I’m going to break this thing in a week. I am definitely investing in a nice little protective case for it. So far, for a First Gen product, it’s pretty impressive. There aren’t many bugs, and the new features are quite incredible.
I love that I now have access to mobile internet. My phone, a MotoRokr, claims to provide mobile internet, but either my wireless provider doesn’t offer it, or it’s way hidden in the phone. With the iPod Touch it’s a simple touch of a button off the main screen and I’m able to visit any website I want. I can also download music off of iTunes, if you know, I wanted to.
The one thing that is annoying me the worst is the movement-responsive view changer. It flips itself over to album view (shown in the photo) seemingly whenever it wants, rather than when I turn it to the side. So. Annoying. I also wish that the built-in touch keyboard was slightly larger, only because my post-baby fingers still kind of resemble sausages and are too fat to hit the button I’m aiming for. Fortunately, those are my only real complaints with this product. Sound quality is wonderful, the new features are fun to play with, and I always love it when I’ve got more stuff and space then I have use for when it comes to electronics.
All in all, I think this is a great product. Thank you little brother!
